George Clooney Gets a Rectal Exam While Talking to Matt Damon (VIDEO)

Actor Matt Damon received a big award during a star-studded gala event on 'Hollywood Salutes Matt Damon: An American Cinematheque Tribute' (Thu., 9PM ET on ABC). A ton of celebrities were in attendance, including Jimmy Kimmel, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck and Clint Eastwood.

One celebrity who couldn't be bothered to show up: George Clooney. Although Clooney did send a video message to Damon. Unfortunately, the message ostensibly took place while George was getting an "elective prostate [exam]" from a doctor.

Clooney appeared a little distracted while sending his message, but -- hey, at least he cared enough to call. "Tonight, you have an American Cinematheque Award," he said to Matt. " ... Ooh! Aaah!" These weren't necessarily sounds of excitement; they were more like noises resulting from the doctor's activities.

Gary Coleman in Critical Condition, Says Report

According to TMZ, 'Diff'rent Strokes' star Gary Coleman has been hospitalized in Utah and is currently in critical condition.

The report, citing Coleman's brother-in-law, claims that Coleman fell and injured his head, which led to his hospitalization. There is little other information at this time.

Daytime Emmys Will Feature Tribute to Dick Clark

As one of TV's most prolific producers, Dick Clark is tribute-worthy at nearly any awards event. And at this year's Daytime Emmys ceremony, the 'American Bandstand' and '$25,000 Pyramid' host will be the focus of a star-studded homage that will include appearances by Simon Cowell, Cher, Jay Leno and Garth Brooks.

Variety.com reports that producers have rounded up a parade of celebs to toast Clark during the Sunday, June 27 CBS telecast of the Daytime Emmys. Curiously, Clark's 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' co-host Ryan Seacrest isn't listed among those who'll celebrate Clark, though Barry Manilow, Marie Osmond, Frankie Avalon, Ann-Margaret and The Spinners are.

"It was time for us to talk about Dick Clark and his influence on daytime," Daytime Emmys exec producer David McKenzie told Variety. "He had a huge influence on television, and was a tremendous cornerstone of the music business as well. We couldn't pass up the opportunity."

The 37th Annual Daytime Emmys telecast, hosted by another TV icon, Regis Philbin, will specifically honor 'American Bandstand,' the seminal music series that not only made an impact on TV, but on the music industry, too. Originally airing on weekday afternoons, 'Bandstand' featured almost every major music act during its 37-year run, from ABBA to Weird Al Yankovic, as well as Bon Jovi, The Beastie Boys, Tony Bennett, The Carpenters, Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke, The Doors, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Etta James, KISS, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Otis Redding, James Taylor and Luther Vandross.

Meanwhile, with the Daytime Emmys on the verge of cancellation last year, McKenzie says he's taking advantage of the Awards' new Las Vegas home, as the live broadcast (from the Las Vegas Hilton) will also include performances or appearances by Sin City acts like the Blue Man Group, Wayne Newton, Cheech & Chong, Jeff Foxworthy and Cirque du Soleil.

"This will be a fast-moving, entertaining awards show," McKenzie says. "Last year we tried to step up the pace, and make it a glamorous and fun event. My mantra has been, the Daytime Emmys are an important part of our industry. And we need to support them. We took it from death's door last year, and we want to kick start it again, so it continues forever."

Andy Richter, Conan Writers Planning TBS Special

Conan O'Brien is headed to TBS a bit sooner than planned -- well, sort of.

According to the AP, Andy Richter and O'Brien's writers will star in a one-hour special, tentatively titled 'Team Coco presents Conan's Writers Live,' designed to give viewers a taste of what to expect when O'Brien's new late-night talk show premieres in November.

Richter will host the special, which will tape June 17 during the second annual Just for Laughs comedy festival in Chicago and air Thu., Jun. 27 at 10PM ET on TBS.

As previously reported, O'Brien struck a deal with TBS following his widely reported fallout with NBC and current 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno. O'Brien's untitled talk show kicks off Mon., Nov. 8, and will air Mondays through Thursdays.

TV Host Art Linkletter Dead at 97

(AP) -- Art Linkletter, who hosted the popular TV shows 'People Are Funny' and 'House Party' in the 1950s and 1960s, has died. He was 97.

His son-in-law Art Hershey says Linkletter died Wednesday at his home in the Bel-Air section of Los Angeles.

"Art Linkletter's House Party," one of television's longest-running variety shows, debuted on radio in 1944 and was seen on CBS-TV from 1952 to 1969.

Though it had many features, the best known was the daily interviews with schoolchildren.
