On the new sitcom ’100 Questions’ (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC), a group of friends try to find love while hanging out in the big city. Hmm. That description sounds oddly familiar. It’s almost as though we’ve seen this type of show before or something.
[Spoiler alert.]
During the first episode, Wayne (David Walton) and Mike (Christopher Moynihan) hang out in a bar, and make a bet. The ultra-smooth Wayne makes a wager with his friend that he can score with any girl, no matter what. Mike goes along with the bet, and forces Wayne to approach a hot girl and use the worst pickup line in the history of the world. And here is that pickup line: “In 1775, cancer of the scrotum was a common disease among chimney sweeps.” So. There you go.
Of course, to Mike’s complete horror, the line actually works. Well, it’s a unique line. But will the friends of ’100 Questions’ be unique enough to reach the level of success of — say — the sitcom ‘Friends’? Or will the show meet the fate of so many other sitcoms about goofy pals living in Manhattan?
